NOXNOX® × Hometex

Women-led workshop in Arequipa, Peru's alpaca capital. Crafted by hand from ethically sourced baby alpaca fiber. Naturally hypoallergenic, naturally flame-resistant.

From the highlands of Arequipa

Alpacas graze at 4,000 m in the Peruvian Andes, where they've been raised for thousands of years. Their fiber is shorn — never harmed — once a year, yielding one of the softest natural textiles in the world. Baby alpaca, the finest grade, is lighter than cashmere, warmer than wool, and contains no lanolin — making it naturally hypoallergenic.

Naturally hypoallergenic

Unlike sheep's wool or cashmere, alpaca fiber contains no lanolin — the waxy coating that triggers most wool allergies. Safe for sensitive skin, children, and anyone who reacts to conventional wool. Rated 1st Class by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission as naturally flame-resistant without chemical treatment.

"I react to most wool but this feels completely different. Soft from the first touch, no irritation at all. My daughter uses it too — she's the one who won't give it back."

Alpaca needs very little care

Alpaca fiber naturally resists odor, dust, and stains. You won't need to clean it often. To refresh, simply air your throw outside for 15 minutes — avoid prolonged direct sunlight.

When cleaning is needed, dry cleaning is the safest option for woven throws. If you prefer hand washing, use cold water and a mild detergent or baby shampoo. Do not agitate, twist, or wring the fabric.

Never tumble dry. Lay flat on a clean towel, reshape to original dimensions, and let it air dry naturally. Store folded with lavender or cedar to protect the fibers — never hang, as it will stretch the weave.
